Our Identity
DBDC (Don Bosco Development Centre) is the ‘Social Arm’ of the Vice province of St. Joseph Sri Lanka which plans, implements, monitors and evaluates sustainable development and human promotion programs. We are a valued part of our communities where we serve – the poor and marginalized children and young people, women and other vulnerable sections of the society. We have seventeen centers across the island. Among these there are 6 Technical Institutes and Vocational Training Centers for helping poor youth to pull themselves out of misery and have a decent living for themselves and their families. 4 Don Bosco Schools of Excellence for promotion of English Medium Education in the rural areas and four boys’ homes and a girls’ home meant for poor and vulnerable children and youth. We have also as one of our priorities women empowerment through self-help groups. As animators we work hand in hand with the Salesian Family and the lay collaborators to fulfil the founder’s apostolic plan. We educate and evangelize the young and uphold their dignity, in the spirit of dialogue with Christian and non – Christian brothers and sisters. We march with the young towards peace in a relationship of trust, shared responsibility and accountability. As a charity institute , we are conducting Academic Education, Protection and Promotion of Children’s Human Rights, Skills Training in Vocational Courses, Information and Communication Technology, Career Guidance and Counselling, Youth Movements, Psycho-Social support services, Women Empowerment, Social Media Education and Sustainable Development Programs.
