Children Rise Through Strong Educational Roots, Women Root Their Families Through Collaborative Effort
The RISE & ROOT Project was officially launched in June 2026 by the Don Bosco Development Centre (DBDC) in Palliyawatta, Negombo, with the aim of strengthening early childhood education and empowering vulnerable families within the local fishing community. The project focuses on creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for preschool children while improving the socio-economic wellbeing of women through sustainable livelihood opportunities, positive parenting, and family strengthening initiatives.
Kindergarten renovation commenced in July 2026 to create a safe, child-friendly, and stimulating learning environment for preschool children. Under the supervision of the project team, renovation work is progressing well. Structural reinforcement, preparatory work, roof material procurement, and recreational area improvements have already been completed. The remaining renovation work is expected to be completed within the next three months.
