As the world becomes more aware of environmental issues, many are turning to renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and biogas. To support this global effort and protect the planet for future generations, Don Bosco Sri Lanka has set a goal to make all its institutions eco-friendly by 2030.

So far, solar power systems have been installed at several centers: 100kW at Don Bosco Murunkan, 12kW at DBDC, and 24kW at Bosco Sevana, Uswetakeiyawa. In addition, a 55kW system was installed at Don Bosco Civil Engineering Institute in Metiyagane, and a 500kW a new system at Don Bosco Vocational Training Institute in Negombo.

Along with installing solar panels, DBDC also started a solar skills training program to prepare students for jobs in the growing renewable energy sector. A total of 36 students have been trained in solar installation, repair, and maintenance at the centers in Murunkan and Metiyagane.

Currently, we are working on setting up three new solar-powered classrooms at Don Bosco Technical Institutes in Negombo, Kandy, and Nochchiyagama.
