We formed the Child Rights Activists Group to bring together key stakeholders and discuss how to safeguard and protect children in our community. The first meeting of the activist group was held at St. Anthony’s College, Mankuliya, on 2nd September 2026.
Discussions were centered on cyberbullying prevention, online safety, the Happy Family concept and career guidance. The group is formed with the aim of keeping children safe, strengthening family relationships and supporting responsible digital behavior, preventing substance abuse, and supporting children in making positive and informed choices for their future.
Don Bosco Development Centre renewed its commitment to working alongside schools, families, government authorities, and the community in shared responsibility for children’s protection and development.
Attendees included Rev. Fr. Viraj Chamara, Executive Director of the Don Bosco Development Centre, the Principal of St. Anthony’s College, Mankuliya, the Child Rights Promotion Officer of the Divisional Secretariat, Negombo, a WPC from the Women and Children’s Bureau of the Negombo Police, Department of Probation and Child Care Service officers in Negombo, and Don Bosco Development Centre staff.
