

An orientation programme for the project “Sustainable Livelihood and Enterprise Development for Women of Low-Income Families” was held on 27th May 2025 at the Don Bosco Provincial House. The programme was attended by Rev. Fr. Viraj Chamara (Executive Director), staff members of DBDC, Mrs. Sevani Dabarera (Principal of the Secondary School, Dungalpitiya), and 19 women from nearby communities.
During the programme, participants were introduced to the overall goal, objectives, activities and benefits of the project for the participants. The Participants were given the opportunity to express their views and suggestions for the project. The orientation was very fruitful as all the participants grew in interest and enthusiasm for the initiation of the programme.


Activities of the project:
- Trainings on ornamental flower plantation and air plants.
- Support to start –up businesses
- Formation of Self Help Groups.
- Trainings on basic finance management (Business plan and book keeping)
- Opening a common fund
- Soft skills for women (Positive parenting, happy family and family finance management)
