


Don Bosco Schools of Excellence which is a model network of English medium schools offering access to the poor now has 4 school in the north and North Central Provinces. This initiative is gaining popularity and there are many invitations to open more schools from many rural communities. One such invitation came from Bibile in Monaragala Districh in Uva Province. Therefore, DBDC conducted a feasibility study in the project location in order to ascertain the relevance of such an initiative to the area. The feasibility study contained meeting with, Community Leaders, Business Community Officials of Zonal education department, Proprietors and Principals of kindergartens, Parents of the children in kindergartens and Questionnaire circulated among 500 families.
The study was spear headed by Dr. Jude Fernnando (BSc (Engineering), PGD, MBA,Ph.D. Attorney at Law, AMIE(SL),CMCE(UK), AEng(ECSL), Industrial Development Consultant and Fr. Viraj Chamara (Executive Director of DBDC, Tharindi Chamalka (Project Manager DBDC), Nirmani Perera (Project Coordinator DBDC), Fr. Antony Pinto (Director Don Bosco Bibile), Fr. Melinda Wickramasinghe (Administrator Don Bosco Bibile) and Fr. Terrance Warnakulasuriya (Principal Don Bosco School of Excellence Nochchiyagama).
