Childhood is the most crucial stage of life since that’s the time that a person prepares themselves for the rest of their lives. These early experiences – both positive and negative – set the stage for a child’s future survival, development, health and welfare. The effects of this time on a child’s emotional and social growth are vital for their future self-assurance, interpersonal skills, ability to communicate, integration into society, and mental health. But a great number of kids without parents lack it. Hence, Bosco Sevana – Don Bosco Boys’ Home, Uswetakeiyawa, dedicated to help orphans and semi orphans by providing food, shelter, education, health care, support and guidance. It protects those vulnerable boys from exploitation, abuse and neglect. The boys attend the nearby government school for their academics. After school, there are remedial classes to provide an additional support to the boys within the premises of Bosco Sevana. These classes are open to the children of the locality too free of charge.
