Poverty is a vicious circle and a trap. Unless and until the vulnerable is empowered they cannot by themselves come out of this trap easily. The poor are stuck in poverty due to the lack of means to escape it and not necessarily that they do not want to come out. Therefore, Don Bosco Development center devised a programme to reach out to the poor youth who due to lack of means are not able to attend employable vocational and skill training and provide them scholarships.
The National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) provides access to respectable employment prospects in the domestic and international labor markets. NVQ certification opens numerous doors to a better living standard, many low-income families cannot afford the course fee and transportation costs. However, it has been determined that providing them with a vocational qualification is the most effective approach to free them from the existing cycle of poverty. Hence, Don Bosco offers full and partial scholarships that pay course fees as well as boarding costs (including meals) to the most deserving young people so that empowered youth can in tern help their households as well to escape poverty and vulnerability.
