Don Bosco Development Center reaches out to poor and vulnerable young girls through Don Bosco Girls’ Hostel in Nachchikuda, where we provide an environment in which the girls are encouraged to pursue their dreams through vocational training.
With the hostel facilities provided, girls’ safety and nutrition are cared for in a secure and holistic environment. The girls come mainly from civil war-affected areas. They have been forced to experience extreme poverty and deprivation. The lack of opportunities especially for girls in vocational training and academic education has led to early marriages and vulnerability of the women population of these areas.
The girls come also mostly from single-mothered families due to the husbands being killed in the gruesome war. Apart from the vocational training facilities, girls are motivated to improve their skills in the English language and computer studies.
