As part of Phase four of its Emergency Relief Programme, Don Bosco Development Centre supported farming communities in Karuwalagaswewa following severe damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah. In response to a request from the Divisional Secretariat and recommendations from the Department of Agriculture, assistance was provided to rehabilitate approximately 1,200 acres of paddy lands under the Neelabamma (Blue Dam) Project through the application of organic fertilizer.
A total intervention valued at LKR 3,650,000 enabled the distribution of 180,000 kg of organic fertilizer. The distribution commenced on 09th April 2026, with 75,000 kg already delivered to 97 affected farmers, while the remaining quantity will be distributed in the coming weeks.
Through this intervention, Don Bosco Development Centre continues its commitment to restoring agricultural livelihoods and strengthening food security in disaster-affected communities.
